How does the daily email work?

Every morning at 8am, Luminary sends you one curated piece of wisdom. On the free preview, you receive the quote and the author. Practice and Wisdom subscribers receive the full morning brief: why the quote was written, what it means for today, and one specific technique to try. Your focus area and life stage shape which quote is selected.

What is the difference between Practice, Wisdom, and Lifetime?

Practice ($8/mo annual): the morning brief in full, the line, the source, the year, plus the full 6,818-quote library and unlimited saves. Wisdom ($12/mo annual): everything in Practice, plus the historical context and today's practice technique, plus a Sunday deep-dive essay and audio narration. Lifetime ($297 once): everything in Wisdom forever, plus all future additions, founding-reader status, and the ability to gift months of Wisdom to others.

How do I update my preferences?

Go to Settings and update your focus areas, life stage, and email tone any time. Changes take effect with the next email.

Can I add my own affirmations or notes?

Yes. In Settings » My Affirmations, you can write and save personal affirmations. They appear in your private feed in the library and never leave your device unless you choose to share them.

Subscription and billing
How do I cancel or pause my subscription?

Use the Pause page, or go to Settings » Manage billing. The Stripe portal lets you pause, cancel, or change your plan with one click. No retention forms, no hold queues.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your saved quotes, streak, and preferences are stored locally on your device and remain after cancellation. Your email address stays on our list as a free subscriber unless you unsubscribe via the link in any email. Server-stored data is retained per the 30-day window described in the Privacy Policy.

Are there refunds?

Subscription fees are non-refundable. The full library is open from day one, so the product is delivered immediately rather than over time. If the Service is discontinued within the first five years of a Lifetime purchase, you receive a pro-rated refund of the unused portion. See Terms section 9.

Why is there no free trial?

The full library is disclosed on day one. A free trial would give the same access for free, then ask you to pay for what you have already received. We chose an honest exchange instead: the price is small, you start using it immediately, and you stay only if it earns the next month.

How is the recommendation engine designed?

Every quote you save updates a private weighting on your device, the tags you save most often appear with higher scores in your feed. Anonymous cohort data (age group, life stage, saved categories) helps surface lines that have resonated with similar readers. No personal data is shared with third parties; the entire model lives in your browser's localStorage.

The read-aloud voice is not working.

Voice uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis. Tap the speaker button on the brief, this must be a direct tap (browsers require a gesture). In Settings » Gallery, pick a voice. If still silent: Chrome works best on desktop, and on iOS Safari you may need to enable Spoken Content in Accessibility settings.

I think a quote is misattributed.

Tap the Flag link on any brief and tell us. A human reviews every flag against primary sources within 48 hours. Confirmed corrections are applied across the library and noted in the per-quote metadata available to Wisdom and Lifetime subscribers.

Can I share a quote on Instagram or as a wallpaper?

Yes. Each brief includes Share and Wallpaper buttons. Share renders a clean image with attribution; Wallpaper exports a phone-sized PNG. Both include a small Luminary mark in the corner.

Gifts
How do gift subscriptions work?

Visit Gift, choose a duration (1 to 12 months), pay once, and we send a redemption code to the recipient's email at the date you choose. They redeem on a single screen and start receiving the daily brief at 8am the next morning. The gift does not auto-renew.

Can I redeem a gift I received?

Yes, on the Gift redeem page. Paste the code and the email address you would like the daily brief sent to. The gift is non-transferable once redeemed.

Privacy and account
What data does Luminary collect?

Email address, subscription status, and (locally on your device) saved quotes and preferences. We never collect IP addresses for advertising purposes, never sell or share data, and operate cookieless first-party analytics. Full disclosure: Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my account and data?

Email the contact form with "Delete my account" in the subject and the email address on file. We respond within 10 business days and complete deletion within 30 days. See Privacy Policy section 12.

I lost access to my sign-in email.

Use the contact form with "Account recovery" as the subject. Provide the old email, the approximate purchase date, and (if possible) the last four digits of the payment method. We verify and update within 5 business days.
